How to Find Your Dream Clients Online

The online space can seem like a BIG ocean and knowing where to spend your time and energy can feel overwhelming. The good news is that you don't have to be everywhere. I think that's something that's important to know right from the start. You don't have to be on all social media platforms or in all of the spaces. In fact, it's better to limit your avenues and focus your time and attention through consistency and value.

Now that you know that you don't have to be everywhere, the question is then where should you be?

The answer is that you should spend your time and energy where your dream clients are. The key is finding where that is. I want to give you some tips on how to find your dream clients online so you know where to focus your time and energy.

Tip #1: Know your dream client well

First things first, you have to know who your dream client is. It's hard to find something if you don't know what you are looking for. I want you to get clarity around who your dream client is, what problem(s) they are facing that you exist to help them solve, and where they spend their time looking for the answers. If you haven't don't this yet I have a free worksheet for you below to help you do this.

Tip #2: Research where your competitors spend their time

The best tip time-saving tip I can give you is to know who your competitors are and research where they spend their time. I'm not talking about people who are in the same place as you but rather who are further along and where you eventually would like to be. The ones who are attracting the crowds, getting the engagement, and booking the clients. Research at least 3 of them and identify where they spend the majority of their time online. Chances are they've found the where your dream clients are and you can follow in their footsteps.

Tip #3: Research where complimentary businesses spend their time

Along with researching where competitors spend their time you can also research where complimentary businesses spend their time who attract your dream client. For example, if you are a website designer, research where copywriters spend their time or social media managers or coaches. Anyone who would specifically attract your ideal clients to know where they hang out and where they already are.

Tip #4: Show up where you will stay consistent

The final tip I want to give you is that once you've researched the top 3 and identified what your options are to pick the ones that you will LOVE to show up in and can stay consistent. For example, I'm not a big fan of Twitter, so I don't use Twitter for business. But I love Instagram and know I can and will use it frequently so I use it because I will show up time and time again to give value. Pick the platforms you know you will passionately give value through.

When it comes to finding your dream clients online, the keys are to know where they are and then focus and stay consistent. Don't post once or twice and call it quits. Be willing to show up time and time again to give value, engage, attract and convert. We'll be digging more into that in the next article.
