One of the first things I do with my clients whether they have been in business for a few years or are just starting out is create a business model.
I’ve discovered that most entrepreneurs try to start a business without having one and this is usually one of the reasons why they are struggling to make sales.
A business model is simply a suite of the products and services you offer your customers.
In today’s blog, I want to walk you through the process of creating a business model so that you can increase your sales and create consistent income in your business.
Start with one offer
The fastest way to generate an income in your business is to focus on selling one offer. I recommend keeping it simple. If you are a coach, create a coaching package, if you are web designer, create a web design package, if you are a social media manager, create a social media management package. Having one thing to focus on is key.
Focus on results
The best way to create the best offers for your customers is to create them based on the results you want your clients to obtain. What do you want them to accomplish and how can you help them accomplish it? Create your offers based around those questions and you’ll create solid offers that sell with ease and produce results (aka happy customers).
Diversify your offers
Once you have started to successfully sell your offer, add a smaller or larger offering based on the next step you see clients need after working with you in one capacity. Essentially, you want your offers to connect and build on one another in order to retain clients. Build your offers as you build your clients and business and based it around them.
Keep it simple
One of the biggest mistakes you can make is offering too many things. Too many offers causes confusion and confusion means no sales. I recommend keeping it to 2-3 offers in order to have options but not confuse your clients. Make sure the offers you create have a purpose in providing a result and that each one has a distinct result it provides.
Creating your business model is one of the first things you should do in your business. Remember to give yourself the space to build it as your business grows and to make room for it to evolve and improve as your business evolves and improves. It’s healthy for your business to be growing as you grow, and the foundation of that is your business model. Start with one offer, build from there and keep it simple.
